Entrepreneurial Schools:

Creating a Culture of Agency and Innovation

For Secondary Schools Nationally

The Entrepreneurial Schools project is a two-year national initiative designed to accelerate student agency and contemporary learning models. The project is delivered by Young Change Agents in partnership with the Australian Secondary Principals' Association (ASPA).

Participants will collaborate with experienced educators and industry leaders to build whole-school approaches that strengthen student agency, connect learning to real-world contexts, and develop capabilities for lifelong learning and civic contribution.

Value per school is $50k

There is no cash contribution cost to the school, as it is fully funded by contributions from the Vincent Fairfax Family Foundation, Young Change Agents, and ASPA.  (costs for travel to PL events and CRT are borne by the school)

Participating schools will become national flagship sites for youth agency and innovation, positioning themselves at the forefront of contemporary learning design and authentic community partnerships.

Your school becomes a flagship school, contributing case studies and evidence to a youth-led insights report and national policy brief. Visibility and learning opportunities at two E3 Unconferences, some travel support prioritised for regional and rural schools.

Selection Criteria

Schools will be selected based on the following criteria:

Strategic Alignment

Your School Improvement Plan (or equivalent) explicitly references student agency, students as effective learners, student voice, or learner dispositions as current priorities.

Leadership Commitment

Principal sign-off and active participation in coaching and forums. Named school liaison (Deputy or senior teacher) to coordinate implementation internally.

Partnership Readiness

At least one community or industry partner identified or ready to confirm by Term 1, 2026, to enable authentic third-space learning projects.

Inclusive Participation

Commitment to establishing a Youth Council that reflects the diversity of your student body and to tracking progress across all cohorts.

Demonstration Site Willingness

Readiness to share learning through case studies, participate in national forums, contribute to evaluation, and provide evidence for policy development.

Geographic Diversity

Regional and rural schools are strongly encouraged to apply. At least 40% of participating schools will be from regional and rural areas.

Not Just Another Program

This initiative is designed to be an integration pathway for priorities schools already hold. It provides the practical support, measurement tools, and national network to accelerate work you've committed to, not add to your workload.

Schools benefit from:

  • Professional learning, advisory sessions and playbooks that make implementation faster and more consistent

  • An impact measurement framework that shows what's working

  • A community of practice with schools facing the same implementation challenges

  • National visibility and policy influence through flagship site status

If student agency and effective learning are already in your strategic plan, this initiative gives you the engine room to make them a reality.
